Before going freelance, I worked in-house with one of those *dream job* brands. And while I’ll be the first to tell you it’s not all sunshine and rainbows (yes, even at the coolest of companies), there is something really special about working for brands and products you can stand behind.
That’s why when I started my own business, I was on a mission to align myself with work I believe in – brands with purpose and products that matter – I told myself, if I believe in it, I’ll do it. Six years later, and I’m still lucky enough to stick to that mission, all while standing on my own two feet without the job security and cushion of a full-time position to give my career that cool brand street cred. Trust me, it’s a thing.
Still, I get hit up by companies recruiting for in-house roles thinking freelance is a second choice. It’s not. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve replied with, “this is an amazing opportunity with a brand I’d love to work with, but I’m not looking for an in-house role.” It’s true, there are a ton of great in-house gigs floating around right now. I’ve also been lucky enough to know people who are doing really cool things at really cool brands who are looking for really cool people to join their team. A lot of times, I’ve thought, “man, if only this were a freelance opportunity.”
Here’s the thing, I don’t want these awesome opportunities to go to waste. So, every couple of weeks, I’ll post a roundup of some of the coolest jobs I come across in the hopes they find their way to the right hands. Go get em, party people.
